What You’ll Experience:

In this workshop, you will learn the basics of Japanese calligraphy and challenge yourself to write your name in kanji.

🖌 Grinding Ink – Begin by grinding ink on an inkstone (suzuri), a calming and essential step in the calligraphy process.

✋ Learning How to Hold the Brush – Master the proper way to hold and control the brush for elegant strokes.

📝 Writing Your Name in Kanji – With the guidance of an instructor, you will write your name using traditional Japanese characters. No prior experience is needed—this experience is designed for beginners!

What is the Tea Ceremony?

The Japanese tea ceremony (Sado) is a traditional cultural practice that goes beyond just drinking tea. It is a ritual where etiquette, mindfulness, and a sense of tranquility come together to create a spiritually enriching experience. Guided by the principle of "Wa, Kei, Sei, Jaku" (harmony, respect, purity, tranquility), it allows participants to engage with tea-making as a meditative practice and connect with the deep spirit of hospitality.

What You’ll Experience:

In this experience, you will learn the fundamentals of the tea ceremony with guidance from a certified tea master (okami).

🍵 Hospitality from the Tea Master – A certified tea master (okami) will provide you with heartfelt hospitality, teaching you everything from the art of tea preparation to the proper etiquette during the ceremony.

🫖 How to Prepare Matcha – Learn the correct way to prepare matcha, using traditional tools and techniques, following the customs of the tea ceremony.
